Real Madrid Sees Wirtz as Kroos Replacement

Real Madrid have renewed their interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, as they seek a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos.

Los Blancos opted not to sign a direct replacement for Kroos in the summer, instead relying on their existing midfield options. However, following an inconsistent start to the 2024-25 campaign, the Spanish giants have ramped up their pursuit of Wirtz.

The 21-year-old German midfielder has impressed in the Champions League, scoring three goals in four games this season. Real Madrid will continue to monitor his performances, particularly in Europe, to gauge his ability.

According to ESPN, Madrid’s coaching staff have identified the need for a dynamic, ball-playing central player, highlighting Wirtz’s potential to fill this void. The club’s midfield, featuring Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, Luka Modric, and Dani Ceballos, lacks a creative spark.

Real Madrid’s summer transfer plans may also include moves for full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies. However, the club may regret not addressing their midfield needs earlier, particularly given Barcelona’s strong start to the La Liga season.

With Wirtz’s stock rising, Real Madrid will likely make a summer move for the talented youngster.
